IDE Technologies awards letter of intent to Smar

IDE Technologies Ltd. in Tel Aviv awarded Smar with a letter of intent for the supply of 262 transmitters (LD291, LD301 and TT301). With the official purchase order received in mid-2003, Smar will now be shipping transmitters for use in the Ashkelon Desalination Plant. Smar was chosen as a long term preferred supplier for upcoming projects by VID Group (formed by Vivendi-IDE and Tech.-Dankner Ellern).

In November 2001, VID Desalination signed a contract for the supply of water to the State of Israel for a period of 25 years in accordance with the BOT: Build-Operate-Transfer concept. A seawater desalination plant will be operated using Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) technologies to provide high quality drinking water. The plant will desalinate 100 million m3/year (330.000 m3/day) and employ state-of-the-art means for saving energy (ERS: Energy Recovery System). It will be built on an area of 70.000 m2, and will include a power plant for independent production of electricity (integrated cycle), producing a capacity of approximately 80MW. The complete plant is scheduled to start operation in 2004.

VID Desalination is jointly owned by IDE Technologies (50%), Vivendi Water (25%) and Dankner Ellern Infrastructure (25%). VID will be responsible for finance, planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant. At the end of the 25-year contract, the plant will be transferred to the Government of Israel. The Plant will include membrane desalination units, ancillary and peripheral infrastructure (a facility for pumping seawater, brine removal, raw water pre-treatment and product water treatment, buildings, workshops, a laboratory, roads, etc) and a facility for independent production of electricity.

This project was lead and pursued by our key Representative Technomad Company from Israel, with special participation from Mr. Adi Yarkoni (Director) and Engineer Adriel Weinberg (Manager). Technomad worked in close collaboration with Mr. Max Ludewig, Business Development Manager of Smar International Division. Ludewig has been supporting the end user with technical support and commercial development for more than one year. The excellent results of this project were directly related to the great teamwork involved!
