Smar at INTERKAMA 2001

INTERKAMA Show is one of the biggest events in the world regarding enterprise automation. Manufacturers, engineering companies and end-users from all over the world were in Dusseldorf, Germany, to attend this important show.

Smar was present at INTERKAMA in three different stands: Fieldbus Foundation, Profibus and Hart. Smar was one of the most frequently visited area at the Fieldbus Foundation stand, where it was made clear that Smar is a leading development company concerning Fieldbus technology.

On Fieldbus Foundation stand, Smar showed a complete line of FF devices along with the DFI302 and the Smar FF Linking Device with HSE (High-Speed Ethernet) capability. Another interesting device shown on Smar booth was the Compaq iPAQ, which is a handheld computer based on Windows CE™, that can run a light version of Smar Process Viewer through a wireless connection with the supervision station. With the iPAQ, it is possible to remotely set values for the process as if it was in the control room. Another presence of Smar on the FF stand was in cooperation with FF. On this booth, the DFI302 was connected to devices from other vendors to demonstrate an HSE (High-Speed Ethernet) application. On the same system, the DC302 was being used to show the FFB (Flexible Function Block) concept.

On the Profibus stand Smar showed the LD303, TT303 transmitters and the SB312 intrinsic safety barrier. The LD303 was connected on 12 Mbits/s DP section through the Siemens IM157 Link. The TT303 and the SB312 were integrated with another 12 Mbit/s DP section through the Pepperl+Fuchs SK-2 segment coupler. All these devices were integrated on the Siemens Simatic Step 7 system which works with EDDL (Electronic Device Description Language) showing the interoperability of equipment from different vendors.

Another important presence of Smar was on the HART Foundation stand. On this booth Smar presented the new HI331 e PC Windows HART pocket configurator based on a Palm platform and the PX300 which is a Wireless On-Line Pasteurization Unit Analyzer that was designed to be used on monitoring of the pasteurization process in the beer industry.
