The Indian Pulp and Paper Association and the Indian Paper Makers Association promoted in the Paperex, a biannual sector event in New Delhi, India. This event encompassed attendees from 380 world industries from 26 countries.

SMAR was represented by their long-term partner in India, Laxsons Automation (Private) Limited, who have promoted their products locally in the sizeable cellulose / paper market and expanded SMAR’s presence in the country since their partnership evolved. In 2006, three million tons of cellulose and seven million tons of paper were produced.

In India there are over 500 factories with 400 indirect companies working in this industry segment.

According to Rajendra Mehta, SMAR’s Pulp and Paper Director, the Indian market has grown 10% annually and a significant factor is Brazil’s participation in this important event. “Furthermore, the country´s per capita consumption and the need to automate the industrial segment are behind the company´s presence in the country, resulting in significant results”, he added.
