The Hannover Fair was yet another ideal opportunity for Smar to promote its innovative engineering solutions in automation. The company showcased the FDT (Field Device Tool) standard, as a support for the FDT-JIG Group. The FDT-JIG Group’s mission is to increase the perception and utilization of the FDT/DTM technology in hybrid automation, process and control applications.
SMAR was the only Brazilian company to demonstrate this technology which provides extensive benefits to a majority of industry segments through AssetView, its SYSTEM302 asset management tool.

The AssetView with FDT presented at the event utilized Profibus and HART technologies. The LD303, DT303 and FY400 equipment incorporated the DF73, Profibus-DPV1 and the HI321 HART interface, respectively, and illustrated the benefits and ease of implementation with this open standard. Additionally, a variety of equipment from other manufacturers was integrated to the SYSTEM302-7, to demonstrate to thousand of users the FDT/DTM open concept, which proves the interoperability between different manufacturers.
The Hannover Fair also staged one of the biggest events in the country on Profibus technology on April 22. The “RPA Chairmen Meeting” includes presidents from Profibus Regions throughout the world. Smar was represented by Director Cesar Cassiolato, who is also the President of the Profibus Association Brazil Latin America, and Product Managers Leandro Torres and Evaristo Orellana Alves. The meeting discussed many points pertinent to the Profibus worldwide vision and presented new advancements including the Profibus PA version, the wireless FDI interface, Profinet, I/O Link, etc. A new installation record of 23.3 million Profibus nodes was announced.
According to Cesar Cassiolato, SMAR has one of the world´s largest industrial Profibus parks, and the Brazil - Latin America Profibus Association is one of the most significant branches in the Profibus Organization.
