DF81: ASi solution for Process Control

SMAR launched the DF81, HSE/ASi controller.

This is a module for the DFI302 – Process Automation and Control Platform that meets the needs for one more line of discrete equipments in the industry.

The DF81 is the SMAR AS-i solution in the SYSTEM302 - Process Control System whose main feature is to work as a HSE – AS-i gateway that provides more connectivity and flexibility do the system.

By providing this flexibility to the control strategies project, the DF81 enables the communication between field devices with other industrial communication protocols. Furthermore, it was designed as a complete solution for network distributed control, including the functions of parameterization and data acquisition of devices through the AS-i network configuration tool.DF81: ASi solution for Process Control

To SMAR Electronic Engineer Evandro Raphaloski, this controller offers two AS-I communication buses. “The advantage of this product is that its protocol makes it easier to install and execute the advanced diagnostic and supervision resources for network configuration”, he explains.

When installed, the DF81 reduces operational costs, with less cables and personnel training. “In addition”, Evandro says, “it will make possible the integration with Modbus legacy plants and the increase in the equipment availability, as the actuators and sensors network will decrement maintenance time”.

 

Main DF81 module characteristics are:

  • Gateway between HSE and AS-i networks;
  • AS-i master based on version 2.1 (except for analog data), with 2 AS-i communication channels;
  • Supports up to 124 AS-i slaves (62 per channel – version 2.1);
  • Access via internal bus for a maximum of 64 conventional input/output modules;
  • Ethernet communication (FOUNDATION HSE and/or Modbus TCP);
  • EIA-232 serial communication (Modbus RTU and local diagnostic);
  • Capacity for instantiating up to 100 standard functional blocks;
  • Capacity for instantiating flexible blocks;
  • Configuration via Ladder language in compliance with IEC 61131;
  • Advanced Control;
  • Support to SNMP, time stamp and OPC communication;
  • Integrated Webserver for diagnostic and parameterization;
  • Modular structure for DIN rail;
  • Refrigeration without fan.
