Specialists in automation from Central America companies, ECG (Ernesto Che Guevara), Tecnomática and Ceproniquel attended a course held at the SMAR Training Center, in Sertaozinho-SP, Brazil on the SYSTEM302-7, one of the most modern systems for distribution control available in the market today.

The classes encompassed four weeks of in-depth training focusing on the details related to the architecture, installation, maintenance, supervision and implementation of projects in FOUNDATION Fieldbus. Among the resources presented to the participants, André Araújo, Product Training Engineer, enhanced the available SYSTEM302-7 features including controllers for automation process connected to high speed networks, providing extensive availability and flexibility.  This included multipurpose functions including the controller, PLC and gateways for field networks through double Ethernet network connection in a single module resulting in reduced costs through function optimization. Control strategies in standard functional blocks with pre-tested solutions reduce source errors, while flexible blocks configured by the user utilizing the Ladder language offer more freedom in project implementation.

According to Araújo, the course focus is to guide participants in utilizing the complete SYSTEM302-7 potential and enables its users to implement safe and reliable conditions for plant startup with continuous operation. The participants created projects with specific standard blocks for various applications, using the training kits and a FOUNDATION fieldbus™  mock-up plant for a practical and visual demonstration for commissioning, download and configuration checkup. “The clients will be able to improve their knowledge on the entire process to provide prompt and precise information on the number of products and related output, improved uniformity for end product results, lower energy consumption and all resources available on-screen for current and historical data retention”, added Araújo.

ECG has a production capacity of 30 thousand tons of nickel per year and is currently implementing its plant update. The services are performed by SMAR’s partners in Cuba, Ceproniquel and Tecnomática, and employ FOUNDATION Fieldbus™ field equipment and the new DF63 and DF75 controllers from the DFI302 family, both operating redundancy functionality. At the conclusion of the course, the group of attendees underwent a FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) tour for their project.
